Happy New Year, Dolphin fans! We trust your holiday season went well and you’re refreshed for a fun, exciting and fulfilling 2013. Speaking of exciting, we’ve got great news for all of you: new versions of Dolphin for Android, iPhone, and iPad, recharged and reinvigorated for the new year.
This is our most exciting release since we launched Dolphin Sonar that, as you know, lets you use voice commands to search through Dolphin. Good stuff.
The recent holiday season once again confirmed that smartphones and tablets are fast becoming the devices of choice for browsing and e-commerce. In its 2012 Holiday Benchmark Report, IBM found that 10 percent of all online shopping during the Thanksgiving holiday originated from iPads. Meanwhile, sales of the iPhone, iPad and iPad mini, among other popular devices, are all expected to be up . What’s all this mean for us? Well, it means more people are using mobile browsers these days and doing more on them, and we not only need to keep up, but stay ahead.
Perfect timing for our latest updates, available now on the iTunes Store and Google Play stores. With this new release of Dolphin, we want to help simplify your mobile life by letting Dolphin do all the work, streamline how you share and connect and simplify how your data is synced across your desktop and mobile devices. It’s all about easing your browsing and maintaining a consistent Dolphin experience no matter which device you’re on.
How are we doing this? In three BIG ways:
1. One-tap Sharing
Tweet web pages, post them to Facebook, share them via email and even share with friends nearby through WiFi…all directly from Dolphin.
- Facebook: Post any web pages and tag friends instantly. For iPad users, you can even annotate with a note or drawing.
- Twitter: Tweet a web page, tag friends and annotate without having to leave your open browser tab.
- Email: Send title, link and personal annotation of web page to any email.
- WiFi Broadcast: Send your friends any web page instantly through a shared WiFi network.
2. Cross-device Sync
We doubt you have only one mobile device, which means you’ve got stuff in multiple locations. It also means you’re probably eager for a consistent experience across your devices and want access to everything no matter you are on mobile or desktop. With our latest update, we’re giving you the ability to do just that.
Use Chrome/Firefox/Safari extensions to Send to Device: Send tabs, images, phone numbers and directions from desktop to mobile.
Here’s how to send a webpage:
- Install the extensions for Chrome, Firefox
or Safari on your desktop/laptop - Sign into Dolphin Connect through extension
- Sign into Dolphin Connect on desired mobile device in Dolphin settings
- Click on Dolphin icon on your desktop browser URL bar
- Choose the Dolphin connected device you want to send to
- Click ‘Send’
- That’t it!
Note: See all the ways to send directions, images and webpages with Send to Device with this video.
With Dolphin Connect you can sync:
- Tabs: See open tabs on your other Dolphin connected devices and desktop
- History: Review what you have visited across devices
- Bookmarks: Sync your bookmarks between all your devices or desktop (*For iOS users, Chrome/Firefox only)
- Passwords: Set a security code for your passwords and sync them across devices
* If you enabled Private Mode, you won’t be able to sync History/Tabs/Passwords.
3. Dolphin Remembers so You Don’t Have To
What do you do when, while browsing, you come across an article, photo or quote you absolutely love? Email it to yourself? Save it via Instapaper? Write it down on an actual piece of paper. All sufficient, but hardly efficient.
The third, and sexiest feature of our latest Dolpin allows you to grab any web content from Dolphin and save it directly to your Evernote (Beta) or Box account.
Download it now and try it out for yourself for
Android, iPhone, and iPad.
Hope you love all these features as much as we do. To find out how Dolphin can do even more for you, check out our FAQs or email the team at support@dolphin-browser.com.
Happy 2013!

I too find the new sharing system annoying. Please include an option to disable it! I regularly share pages to whatsapp, sms, pocket, email AND facebook (generally messenger) and the new system is seriously annoying.
I’m using Dolphin Browser v9.3.2 on a Samsung Galaxy S III (SGH-T999) with Android 4.1.1, and the browser force closes on any page opened from a shortcut or from browser history, except for my homepage (Google.com).
The same problem existed with version 9.31, but Dolphin worked perfectly before the last 2 or 3 updates.
I noticed many people (who are using the same device as I am) have mentioned the same problem in their user reviews of Dolphin Browser, in the Google Play Store.
How can I fix this problem, or should I just switch to another browser?
I got the HD version of dolphin browser 4 my blackberry playbook and it works great on it it rly does.

Need option to turn off one tap sharing as I usually want to bring up the android share menu which offers a much greater range of choices than one tap offers. One tap share saves one tap if you want to share on the first app offered by one tap but otherwise saves nothing and adds taps if you want to share using another android app such as, for example, pinterest. One tap is a backward step. Now I have to long press, select share page, click share button at top of one tap dialogue box, then I get to Android share popup and after sharing I return to the redundant one tap share dialogue box and have to select back to return to the Web page.
Since turning on Dolphin Connect on my android and on desktop firefox my phone has used 850Mb in 15 days. (Dolphin Background data use). I used to use about 80mb in a whole month from active browsing.
That doesn’t seem right. But I’ve disabled it for now.
Also, and it might be connected, the firefox extension doesn’t seem to play well with NoScript. Any tips on what to add to Noscript to unblock it?
Using android 2.3.4 and yes 9.3.1 dolphin as always thanks for being on it dolphin I knew I could count on you. Almost, almost hit the uninstall its that bad.
Oh also wont scroll whilst zoomed on photos anymore …your begter than this sorry for mistakes impossible to edit now.
Horrible since last update, cant stay logged in keeps logging me out of everything email sites etc. droidx page placement is cut off on left side, swype function is unacceptable cursors all over while typing end up typing into previous lines HORRIBLE, been with dolphin since the first come on!!! Tried to edit this impossible!
Are you using the latest v9.3.1?
And what’s your device model and Android OS version?
Not being able to undo the screen orientation on the iPhone version of this browser is no small oversight on your part. A how to on engaging/disengaging this this is oddly absent…
Or was it your intention to annoy people who don’t want to be stuck with one orientation?
Iam in iran
You are gooooooood
Weird that in a new release that aims to make cross platform sync a feature you also make it more difficult by stopping new Dolphin account creation….
Terrific post however I was wanting to know if you
could write a litte more on this topic? I’d be very grateful if you could elaborate a little bit further. Thanks!

How to download from dolphin browser……it plays audio and video…but cant download
OMG I love the changes for Evernote! THANK YOU!! Wow, you’re possibly the only app that has actually taken user’s comments into consideration. I can’t tell you how much I love love love Dolphin!!! Thank you thank you thank you!!
First of all, thank you for your great product. I specifically love plugin such as Last Pass.
I’m posting here because like other users, I do not really like one-tap sharing at the moment. The idea is good but it needs some improvements. I mainly use Delicious to save my bookmarks but I also use other apps to share them and this new feature makes it more complicate to save a bookmark from Dolphin. Please add an option to disable One-tap sharing, add a search engine to Evernote Tags and let the user decide which applications should be the default one.
Thank you in advance for your understanding.
Thanks for your comment, I’ll pass it along and see if we can incorporate it for you.
Hi there
Will History sync be coming to the Firefox extension in the future? Or indeed is it currently available, or will it be in the future for Safari or Chrome (haven’t tried those!)
I have changed to Dolphin on iOS and Android due to the History sync feature and am desperately hoping it will appear on my desktop in the future. Please!
Thank you
Thanks for your comment.
History Sync isn’t available now.
But I’ll pass it along and see if we can incorporate it for you.
Work life
I’d like to vote for the old Android system sharing api. I recently installed Andmade Share and upgraded to the pro version because it allows me to edit, reorder, and group the list of apps. As well it allows for multi-share.
Because I share some urls with pinboard.in, some with Evernote, some with Gmail, having another step in the action of sharing is a stwp backwards.
Thank you for your feebdack.
We will try to improve Share feature and make it better.
Lol I just found your answer above. Thanks again for making a user friendly product that provides what I need or want, and have it available to me by the time I figure out I need it!
First of all, thank you for dolphin browser android!! Second, after this 2013 update, share to pinterest is no longer an option. Please help!
Dearest Dolphin,
Thank you thank you thank you a gazillion times over for the feature to directly save content to Evernote and Box. I can’t tell you how much I love it. I do a lot of research online, and this feature is a mega time saver. I’ve always wanted a browser capable of this. I’ve always had to exit my browser to go to Notes, and sometimes while doing that my browser crashes and the page is lost when I try to go back to it. Now I don’t have to. Thank you!!
But may I ask for some teensy little changes? (That is, Dolphin is already 5 stars for me, this would make it 6).
First off, saving to Box in PDF format takes up a lot of space and is slow to save. Evernote is faster, but sometimes I need images. Is there another format we can use that would be faster?
Secondly, Evernote sadly does not have proper paragraphing. Try reading the notes afterwards and you’ll see why I’m here. It’s my only bone to pick with this fabulous new addition. Is there some way to save the content complete with paragraphs? Pretty pretty please?
But I would still adore Dolphin even if you aren’t able to make these changes (I mean, I suppose it could be limited by Box or Evernote capability).
Thank you Dolphin!
Thank you so much for your support, Anne.
I’ll pass your requests along and see if we can incorporate it for you.

How to sign up to Dolphin account, without having Facebook or Google? There is only “Forgot password” link in Dolphin, no registration link.
Jerzy,
We have closed the entry to sign up for Dolphin account.
If you want to use Dolphin Connect, you need to sign in with Facebook or Google account.
Please provide a setting to disable one-tap sharing. For many, all you’ve done is made it harder to share via email and pocket etc. In the alternative, please provide a way to customize one – tap to include only apps of our choosing. Until you fix this, I’m Uninstalling.
Really? This is the kind of crap you get excited about? This is the stupidest update since the addition of sonar. *DESPITE* these craptacular “features” it’s still the best mobile browser available. Although the FireFox team finallynseems to be getting their act togather, so that might change before much longer.
We are sorry that you don’t like the new update.
But can you tell us what problem you have with Dolphin?
Good parfoamance
I am not impressed with the new one tap sharing. An option to turn it off or at least select the a default android app to use for sharing (ie: pocket) would be helpful. Not everyone has or wants a Facebook page. The way it works now its more like 3 tap sharing
We are sorry that you don’t like the new share feature.
But we still support sharing with your native Android apps.
Just click the button in greater-than shape on the right side of Facebook after you choose “Share page”.

Like others, I find it annoying that it defaults to Facebook sharing. Couldn’t you have the option once you’ve clicked the < to select another tool, to ask if you want to set that as default? (Using android, by the way)
Now this is da browser I’ve long looked for! Ok I was still using the old Dolphin browser but this one is a killer! Am deleting every browser on ma phone I’ve found Mr. Right!
Thank you for your support!
Gooooood
Only share thru facebook? Not everyone bows down to facebook. You lost this user.
No, you can share with Facebook/Evernote/Twitter/Box. Just click the drop down button next to Facebook.
i love the browser however sometimes it shuts down automatically and when I reopen all my previous pages are lost , I have to start from scratch while I have Some many windows open it’s a pain to start all again. HTC evo 3d
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Can you send the details to support@dolphin-browser.com?

I used to be able to pin webpages from Dolphin to Pinterest, and with the new update it takes me directly to Facebook when i choose ‘Share’.
Is there any way around this??
If you mean share with your local Pinterest app, yes.
Just click the button in greater-than shape after you choose “Share page”.
I spoke to soon. At the too of the initial share sreen there is a bar. On the left side allows the default share app to be set from a short list. I chose evernote. The right of the bar allows selection from all the apps.
Yes exactly.
Glad you found it out.
How do I turn off the facebook login prompt when I want to share. I have a the sinking feeling that I am being watched.
Share defaults to Facebook? How do you share with anything else? Why can’t I share with PowerNote (Diigo), Pinterest, Tumblr, any of my other apps? Dolphin is controlling which apps I can share to. Why? No explanation. Huge disappointment.
Page loading is maddeningly slow on top of that. This is no longer the browser for me.
Sorry for the confusion.
First of all, you can choose to share with other services by clicking on the Facebook icon.
Or you can share with other Android apps by clicking the button in greater-than shape on the right side.
For the page loading issue, can you tell us it happen on which site?
I only have one problem with the Dolphin browser: no matter how many times I set it up to be my default browser, it just doesn’t happen. Am I doing something wrong, is something wrong with the app or is my SIII messing things up?
WTF ??? why do you force people to login into facebook ?!?!?!? i don´t want to see this stupid facebook logo everytime i want to share a page, how stupid is that !??! now i always have to do one more click before i can share a site!! PLEASE DISABLE THIS !!!!!!!! when i do the share page gesture i want to see the apps i can use: *immediately* and i don´t want to be forced to klick another stupid button because you think everybody needs a facebook account!!!
you may not believe. but this is a reason not to use dolphine any longer!!

My guess is that this new sharing feature doesn’t work behind firewalls? Any time I click on the Dolphin Chrome extension, there’s a green circle “thinking”, but nothing ends up happening. I’m logged into my account on my Motorola Atrix, but I can’t do anything from the Chrome extension.
Tim – Did you log in your chrome extension with the same account on your mobile device?
Yes, I’m, logged in to the same account (via Facebook). In Dolphin Connect, it shows that I’m logged in, but it also says that “No devices connected!”. When I click the “Advanced Setting Via Web Management” link, I’m able to see my Synced devices & data however. I’d send you screen shots, but there’s no way to post that here, right?
here’s the link for the chrome addon – https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/dolphin-connect/pajecklcmiegagoelbbjldmfcbcpdpll
Your update today on my iPhone 4 messed up browser. I get swipe to continue page. When I swipe, page won’t go away.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
