new name

We have all heard the saying “less is more.” Well today Dolphin exemplifies this with our simplified name and a sleeker design. Today we unveil ourselves as Dolphin Browser, the app formerly known as Dolphin Browser HD.

What does this slight name change mean to you (and us?) Less of a mouthful, with the same high definition and quality.

  3. Divran says:

Forgot to mention, I was referring to when you open the browser app after leaving it off for a while, it usually tries to refresh all open tabs.

  4. Divran says:

    I am.

Oh and could you guys implement a feature where the browser doesn’t try to reload the page if you don’t have an internet connection (so you can still browse the pages you have open). Thanks

  5. Divran says:

    1. Yes. I even updated just now and I was able to reproduce the bug again right away.

    2. The latest official version for desire hd: 2.3.5

    3. I’ve actually never tried using bookmarks in the stock browser. I installed opera almost right away, and after a while I moved to dolphin

  6. Divran says:

On my Desire hd, the bookmarks don’t work properly. Often when I open bookmarks, it opens a different one than the one I clicked. Please fix this bug.

It would also be great if you could implement an “open all bookmarks in folder” feature.

    • Dolphin Browser says:

      Thanks for your comment, Divran.
Can you help us out and answer a couple of short questions?
      1. Are you using the latest Dolphin on Google Play?
      2. What’s your Android system version?
      3. Does your stock browser have the same problem?

  7. Richard says:

Two problems. The is first is after a sentence has completed, ended with a full stop then space, the first letter of the next sentence remains in lower case. Second, and more critical any annoying is trying to scroll right on a zoomed page.
Repeatedly this action opens the right panel for add-on’s instead of scrolling. And please can we delete the promoted add-on’s we’ll never install?

  8. kay says:

After I upgrade my dolphin, it becomes slower than before. It takes more time to change web page. What happened with my dolphin? I’m using incredibleS from htc.

  9. Sm says:

Please provide a way to to delete/clear search suggestions. Much like the auto complete function, there are sites/bookmarks that are suggested that I don’t want to show.

  10. km says:

I have the same problem as Patrick and jon_dojar. this wasn’t a problem before the update but a (somewhat annoying) workaround is to press backspace before typing anything in. I am running ICS 4.03 on a stock galaxy s2 with Smart Keyboard Pro.

  11. Sleepydude says:

Nice. Could you finally get it in the Amazon Appstore? I’m tired of sideloading it on my Fire.

  12. dave says:

    Hi
The beta version seems to have an issue with scrolling up and down pages, even these comments. It often takes several swipes to get the page to move. This never happened with the published version. HTC one x on ICS.

  13. Drizzle says:

    Hi,

I have the same problem as described by Miguel – since updating to Dolphin 8.7.0 the bookmarks sidebar is really difficult to use – it takes 2 or 3 attempts for it to slide out – unlike before when a quick swipe was all that was required?

Any reason why this might be the case?

I am on an ASUS Transformer Prime TF201 running ICS 4.0.3

    Thanks

  14. Owen says:

Sometimes mobile version of Facebook jumps and getting crazy when I try to comment. Anyone else with same problem?

The search has 2 issues that were not there before:
when I start typing on my droid2 (2.3.5) keyboard, it takes me to the search screen like normal but kills the first letter I typed as soon as I type the second letter.
Also, the up/down arrows used to navigate the results list and now do nothing.

    • jon_dojah says:

      Patrick-

This has been an ongoing issue for me since I first got my tablet last year. I think it has to do with letting the whole page load before typing. If I go to yahoo search and then start entering a word in the search bar the first few letters disappear than im typing the rest of the word and when I hit enter the letters that disappeared are added on to the end of my entry.

I solved this by just waiting a few seconds for the page to completely finish loading then begin typing. No more issues.

    • Dolphin Browser says:

      Hi Patrick.
Which keyboard do you use? The stock keyboard?

  18. Owen says:

Auto response is a shame. I’ve explained the bug on a previous post and you ask for details. Please use the search function on my name, in this thread.

  19. brett says:

how do u get a back button like in mini dolphin?

  20. mozam says:

How can read my native language bangla!!

  21. Jon Dojah says:

Well the issue I had is now back. I don’t get it. It was really good for 2-3 days. Now its back. It takes me 2-3 times to open a a new tab. Just knowing when I open something that its probably most likely not opened is a horrible feeling to have on a browser. I’m on galaxy tab 10.1 and ive had this issue for many months. It seems like such an easy problem to program a fix for.

Its like pressing the power button on your TV remote and it only turning on every few attempts. Pease fix this please.

    • Dolphin Browser says:

      Hi Jon.
Can you try the following way and see whether pages can open in new tab?
Press Meunu> More> Settings> Lab> Turn on “Open in new tab”.

      • Jon Dojah says:

Well what I really want is to only open pages in new tabs when I long press a link. Any other time I want to open page on current tab.

But I went ahead and checked the boxes for both settings. Even then when I long pressed the first link after the change it didn’t open the page in new tab on first try. On the second try it opened. This happens every time I use the browser. Sometimes I get lucky and tab opens on first try. Other times it can can take 2 or 3 tries. Other times it can be alot more.

  22. Miguel says:

It takes me forever to slide out the bookmarks side bar now. The ease of access to bookmarks was the reason why I started using Dolphin in the first place. I’m considering switching back to Opera if I can’t solve this.

I have a Galaxy S2 with Ice Cream Sandwich.

    Please help.

I have motorola defy with CM7.2. It has happened also when I had stock froyo on the switch from dolphin 6 to 7. I’ve contacted your support back then but although effort you couldn’t help and I had to reinstall it from scratch.
It does happen every time no matter file type

  26. STOP ADD ON SPAM says:

STOP ADD-ON SPAM. I FEEL DIRTY & USED WHEN I AM FORCED TO DOWNLOAD AND UNINSTALL ADD-ONS I DO NOT WANT!

    • Dolphin Browser says:

      We are sorry for that.
In case of that you missed some good add-ons, so we put them on the add-on bar.
If you like them, you can download them. If you don’t like them, you can just leave them along.

New version is nice and fast.
BUT it broke download notifications – when I click a finished download it doesn’t do anything. And I need to go manually to dolphin, downloads, click. Same thing happened with previous update from 6.* and 7.0

  29. Kspecial says:

    Sorry can’t read. It’s 4.03.

  30. jon_dojah says:

It seems like the one big issue I had was resolved. Before 2 out of every 5 times I opened tab or opened tab in new background it would do nothing and I’d have to check the top after every attempt and redo it until it pops up. So far after yesterdays update they’ve all loaded 100% of the time! Thanks.

PS From now on please don’t remove any of the current features like you’ve done in past updates. There are still some that haven’t come back but at least now I don’t have any major issues

Hi, system version is 8.7.0. The bookmark slide is in my opinion the best Dolphin feature. Keep up the good work.

If I want to save battery power, should I consider using Dolphin Mini or Dolphin HD? I ask this because I find my Dolphin Mini heating up substantially when I load a few tabs simultaneously – something which doesn’t happen as much as on Opera Mobile or Chrome.

Seems it is not nearly as smooth to swipe to bookmarks after the upgrade. Too bad as that is the main reason I use Dolphin. Galaxy S2.
