webzine
We are very proud to announce the launch of Dolphin Browser HD v6.0 and introduce Webzine.
What is Webzine?

Dolphin brings out the beauty of the web and with Dolphin Webzine users can experience the web like never before. Web pages are cleanly displayed as a series of thumbnail images and users can scroll through web pages instantly using an intuitive touch interface, tapping on any thumbnail image to open the desired page.

Effortless browsing – read the latest articles from your favorite website without going into any websites.
  • Access right from Dolphin Browser homepage
  • Simply tap to read the entire article
  • Swipe to scroll through thumbnail images of articles
  • Add a subscription
No hassle, no loading and ad-free!
What can I read on Webzine?
  • Hundreds of web and magazine subscriptions to choose from. Wall Street Journal to Cosmopolitan, Health to Entertainment.
  • Access the feeds from your favorite Social Networks: Facebook, Twitter & (for our friends in China) Sina Microblog.

Why Webzine?
We wanted to make it super easy for you to read web articles, access web content and get the information you want right on your mobile device. Just as simple as that.
Our goal is simple; listen to your feedback, and continue to make Dolphin even better. Please send us feedback at support@dolphin-browser.com.

P.S. A special shout out to everyone that participated in the beta and helped us out!

How can I view facebook’s online friends ? and chat with them is it possible ?

    • Dolphin Browser says:

      Hi.
Do you mean that you can’t use Facebook Chat on Dolphin?
Does your stock browser have this problem either?

      • Nam says:

Please make Facebook chat work with Dolphin HD, it is the best browser in android and best facebook source… made me uninstall all the crappy facebook app lol, it only needs facebook chat though…
PLEASE MAKE IT HAPPEN !! THX FOR THE AWSOME APP

        • Dolphin Browser says:

          Hey Nam.
Do you mean that you can’t use Facebook chat on Dolphin?
Does it happen in mobile view or desktop view?
Can you try to turn on full screen and see whether it fixes the problem?

Webzine only works in portrait mode. Moto Xoom 2.2

  14. mike smih says:

I for one like the webzine. It’s very convenient to get more than a blurb or headline without having to wait for the full site to download. As far as I know it is the closest thing to flipbook for ipad (which is awesome) that I can find for android. However the inability to add my own rss feeds is dissatisfying. I had to side load it on my viewsonic grab because im running VEGAn 5.1.1 and while it showed up in the market, there was no download button. I say that so others on VEGAn might benefit. I used app backup and restore to save the mobile.mgeek.tunnybrowser apk on my droid and copied that to my grab. Anyway please give us custom rss feeds, and thanks for your hard work.

I need “undo tab” function cause sometimes no-clickable links.

    and…
why does not showing histories in new tab?
(I do not checked “Browsing without history”)

    • Dolphin Browser says:

What ” tab option” do you refer to?
If you want to hold on a tab, you don’t need to press menu key firstly.
As for the “undo tab” function, you can find it by holding on a tab bar.
And history is also in the bookmarks side bar.

New to dolphin, but love that I can stream when others won’t on my android tablet. Your new webzine though….my FB news feeds are distorted. If a person has a photo posted, it takes up the whole right side and its not even the whole picture. Also, the rotating goes straight to portrait, with no rotating at all. Unlike. I’m a horizontal person myself. What could be causing the freakness of the feeds to be filled with white and distroted picture sizing? Some are that way, some are not, but more are than not.

    • Dolphin Browser says:

      Thanks.
Currently, the photo preview is just part of the picture not the whole image.
Also, Webzine is only available in portrait mode.
If you have further suggestions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
We will try our best to help you.

How do I prevent the “Shared via Dolphin Browser” text that now appears when sharing pages from the browser? I share stuff from Dolphin all the time, but I will, never, ever, ever actually post anything with that text (I share via Twitter so the extra characters are a total no-no). I will need to remove it manually 100% of the time I share stuff from Dolphin. This is a few times a day, so it’s going to be annoying enough that I might have to stop using the app unless an option is there to prevent it appearing.

Is there an option to remove it, and if not, when will this option be introduced?

    thanks.

Is there a way to make links you click open as a Webzine. I love the clean look I get from viewing pages in Webzine format but I use Google Reader to get my news, and when I click on a link to a page, it opens in the normal mobile view, rather than Webzine.

    • Dolphin Browser says:

Currently, links cannot be open in webzine directly.
But if a site is in our webzine column resource, there will be a webzine button in the address bar. Clicking it, the site will turn into webzine view directly.

  80. Banjo says:

I love the idea behind the Webzine function (though I agree with those daying it should be an optional add-on) but right now it’s pretty much useless without the ability to add your own sites. If this was done, it would be really useful for my Galaxy Tab 7″. Having to ask “can you add site x” all the time is not really ideal.

I also prefered the old icon (new logo is fine, but the old one made a better ‘browser icon’ IMHO) but certainly wouldn’t stop using Dolphin because of this!

Haven’t noticed a change in performance so far, but maybe because I deleted the webzine links or it just plays nicer with my device?

I really don’t get why people speak for everyone. over used webzine for multiple things already and like how well it helps a mobile device. personally I’m glad there have been all these updates. if you don’t change and adapt you’ll never get more users let alone keep any. I like the new emblem. much more modern and no longer looks like firefox.

that being said I’ve had one issue and it’s minor and has been potentially fixed already. when there is a drop down menu, for some sites it will select the link under the drop down link when I click it. as I said this has been cleaned up for most sites as is so its pretty rare now. thank you for the additions and the hard work. mobile browsers are constantly evolving and dolphin seems to lead the pack. thank you for the great experience and hard work.

  100. Bart says:

Still the same comments as months ago, but here goes:

    - When I go to the XDA-developers forum, for example http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=530 , and I click on the “search this forum” button, and then i click in the textbox that just popped up, then the whole popup thing disappears. So I can’t search for anything.

    - More bookmarks syncing options directly in the browser (bookmarks2sd simply doesn’t work), including full sync support with Chrome (desktop), including full folders syncing support!

    - I’m missing instant/back forward features (without reloading the pages again), as well as instantly showing the page after i “minimized” the browser (without reloading the page again)

    - Downloading from filesharing websites such as filesonic.com (and many others) still doesn’t work and the resulting downloads are corrupt, too small, filename incorrect, …

    - Add an option into settings for automatic text reflow when pinch zooming, right now (at least on my phone), the text only reflows when double tapping the text, not automatically when pinch-zooming.

I really like the webzine feature but for the sites I have viewed it doesn’t show the full article so at the end of the the view in the webzine view I have to select “view original article ” to read the rest of the information and wait for the full page to load again. Is there some settting to fix this? In its current form I don’t see how this does anything other than show a preview of articles. BTW, when at the Wall Street Journal site (online.WSJ.com) clicking on the weakness button loads WSJ world news which is not the same site as online.WSJ.com.

And the back button to close the tab not to exit browser.
    The icon is better.

    • Dolphin Browser says:

Thanks for your feedback and appreciation for our new icon.
You can draw a gesture to switch to left /right tab. Or download our Tab Switcher add-on.
As for exiting browser via back button, it will bring up the confirm exit dialog again.

  111. Juan says:

    Love it

  112. KS says:

Any way to enable the full article in webzine? While using on the Wall Street Journal site (where I have a paid subscription), the articles are truncated which means it now takes longer to view the same article than in the non-webzine format. I view part of the article in webzine, select “view original article” then wait for it to load and read the whole article again with the missing content now provided. I love this idea but not being able to access the full article hinders it substantially.

BTW, when viewing the Wall Street Journal’s website (online.wsj.com), clicking on the webzine button loans “WSJ: world news”. Those are not the same feeds, online.wsj.com is the newspaper’s online content not world news.

    Thanks.

  113. matt says:

Really disappointed in versions 5 and 6. Webzine is useless and slows down the browser. In v5, hated the “search through bookmarks as i type addresses” feature. Currenttly looking for a 4.x apk to install. (Or requesting that the aforementioned features to be user-configureable.

There is still an issue on rendering sime sites. E.g. Http://www.luontokuva.org does not work ok, site menus are shown as plain text lists (running Android 2.1 in xperia x10). All desktop browsers and mobile Opera render the site ok. Stock browser has same issue as Dolphin.

Other problem with v6 is delayed responsiveness when opening three tabs at the same time. Closing tabs takes while and it’s easy accidentally close several tabs as you think that first attempt to press cross did not react. Further, opening just three tabs makes page loading really slow compared to e.g. Opera.

    • Dolphin Browser says:

Does the page loading issue happens in mobile view or desktop view?
As for the close tab issue, you can just tap the tab bar to close a tab.
And we will keep working on making Dolphin better.

  138. STAR says:

Not gonna use webzine feature. Dot see the point at all. Should be a separate app. My issues haven’t been resolved for ages and im starting to think my money was wasted buying a licence for this app. First of all wikia (not wikipedia) crashes the browser after a few minutes. As far as changes go where did the history go from speed dial? Why remove it? And how are the quick links quick at all when you have to press extra buttons to get to it. Instead of webzines, put a history link there.

    • STAR says:

Also, on twitter, clicking a name in a tweet wont open their page. Have to long press and open in new tab for it to work. And on facebook (desktop mode) notifications at the top is really hard to press no matter how zoomed in. It keeps selecting either messages or the search bar on facebook, very annoying, started doing this only a couple updates ago.

      • Dolphin Browser says:

Does the twitter and facebook issues happen in your stock browser?
And do they happen in mobile view or desktop view?

        • STAR says:

I always use desktop mode. Twitter seems to be fine now, just takes a bit to load the right panel after clicking a link, not a big deal. The stock browser has same issue with facebook, so I guess its the site? Maybe you can bug facebook about it I guess. The only issues I have at this point are wikia crashing the browser after a few minutes, and I really miss the bprevious pages feature that used to be under the speed dial pages. I would also like to see the webzine tab have an option in settings to put history there. Otherwise I am happy with the speed of the browser, even if it takes a bit to open the app. Keep up the good work. I hope to see the crash problem fixed soon, its a bit annoying to look something up and have it crash while im reading.

        • Bart says:

Sorry, but why do dolphin people on the blog always ask whether bugs happen in the stock browser as well. I’ve been asked that a million times and it gets frustrating. If you really want to know, then let your development team try it and find out! What are they doing all day? And besides, this is dolphin, not stock browser. Dolphin should be better… if the bug is found in dolphin, then it should be fixed in dolphin. Who cares what the stock browser does?

The reason why we ask the stock browser is to make sure it is a system problem or the browser problem.
And tester do test the problem every time you report us the bug. However, since we are in different hardware and firmware circumstance, some problems are not easy to be reproduced.
We do hope we can fix every bug you reported and we are trying to do so now.
            Hope you can understand.

Can (unfortunately) concur. My issues and feature requests have been neglected for months. Still the same bugs and lacking features as in version 4. Posting it on the blog of every single beta and release doesn’t help. And when you post it here on the blog (done that many times), apart from having to repeat your issue many times, you get a standard reply like “does this happen in stock browser too?”, only to find out in the next version still nothing has changed.

    Hello Dolphin people,

I would like to add my thoughts:

The new icon is nice but the old one was better.

I haven’t used or seen the webzine feature but I wont knock it. The browser does an excellent job rendering webpages in Desktop mode. That’s all I need.

The only issue I have is with the browser is the inability to recognize some links – especially on the Facebook page. Is a fix in the works?

    Thanks.

  143. Rahul says:

Works great but seems like the desktop mode isn’t working.. Still opening mobile website with the setting..

  144. C.G. says:

Guys, you are doing excellent work and I mean it. One of the most descent browsers I’ve ever seen. Just would like to have an opportunity to operate with my bookmarks, like editing and deleting.

    • Dolphin Browser says:

You can access bookmarks editing page under Menu>Bookmarks>Quick Access>Bookmarks. Holding on the bookmark you want to delete/edit, a content menu will pop up then choose “Delete/Edit Bookmark”.

  145. John says:

Any chance there’s a way to increase the font on the webzine page? It’s just too small on my Evo 3D.

  146. J says:

    Thanks for the update!

But how can I use the “Undo” feature for closed tabs in this version?

  147. Arpan Deb says:

I was a beta tester for the Dolphin HD 6.0. I use dolphin on a galaxy Tab and bought a licence to show my appreciation for such a fine piece of software.

The downloaded the latest version a few hours ago. And watched few videos online. It was smooth, page loading time has improved compred to the 6.0 beta. Flash based video performance also seem to have got better.

In short the speed is better than ver 5.1. Well atleast for me, it is.

    Congratulations on the funding.

    Keep up the great work.

Works great on my NexusOne, but I can’t find it in the market on my NotionInk Adam, didn’t you enable it for the Adam? I thought there was a special relationship between Dolphin and NotionInk…

  155. olli says:

please remove webzine as no one needs it .make it optional as an addon or something like that.
better input handling in textareas like this (with swype keyboard) would be nice

    • Dolphin Browser says:

If you don’t want to use it, you can just use the speed dial.
But can you tell me why you don’t like it?

      • Olli says:

        Good morning!
Like Simon said, it bloats the browser. Look at the success of Chrome or Firefox. Both of them has only what is neccessary to surf the web. Things like Webzine are much better suited as an extensions to the browser, so people who like Webzine can install it and use it as much as they want. But if you just want to use the good old Dolphin as a browser, you just dont need things like webzine.
If this isn’t possible right now, extend the Extensions API. Then someone could integrate Google Reader, or the Google+/Facebook Stream. Or just use the dial page (or a blank start page would be nice too – you have your Bookmarks and Gestures to open Sites fast).
Btw: The browser seems to start much slower (because of Webzine? But i’ve already deleted all the columns/sources) in Version 6.0, even on my Galaxy S2 – i guess i’ll downgrade for the time being and hopefully version 6.1 comes without webzine, but with a webzine addon!
Another btw: I like the new Icon

        • Dolphin Browser says:

          Thanks for your feedback.
The webzine feature still needs a lot of improvement. We will try to make it better. Hope you will like it later.
As for the start-up speed issue, does Dolphin v5 have this problem either?
Btw, what is your android system?

      • STAR says:

We have a browser to use the web as it was intended, not to look at dumbed down content. Webzine sould be a separate app. Fix what isn’t working before wasting time on features that most your users don’t want. Its a browser not a webzine reader, capiche?

        • Dolphin Browser says:

          Thanks.
Can you tell me your device model and android system?
As for the most visited on new tab page, I will transfer it to our relevant team member. They will consider it if necessary.

  156. Barry Gilbert says:

Looks great! Two quick questions: How do you remove one item? How do you add more than 10?

  157. Cooper says:

    Hi,

I was one of your beta testers but haven’t received any emails/notices, lately. How should we proceed?

Uninstall the Beta 6.0 & then upgrade/download 6.0 from the market?

Hadn’t had one problem & was happy to help, if I did :-D

    Coop

  158. vTisg says:

    And it even gets better!
Thanks for 6.0 and IMHO webzine is a great feature.
    Well done!

  159. Simon. says:

I’m ultimately disappointed with Dolphin HD 6. Why fix what isn’t broke??? Dolphin hd WAS perfect before this new webzine nonsense :-\ I don’t like the new icon, I hate this webzine with a passion, as it’s so limited; you can’t access dm’s on twitter in webzine, you can’t access facebook messages in webzine, and in my opinion webzine should belong to Dolphin mini, not HD. WHY you ask? Because webzine is a downgrade, and sn’t good at all. Dolphin HD is and should be HD – HIGH DENSITY, and not nclude webzine, which I think would be better on lower end feature phones, and nowhere NEAR a smartphone.

It seriously bloats Dolphin HD, and is unnecessary, as the start up times are greatly reduced, especially from cold And as others are saying in the Android Market; it’s process stays alive, even after exiting the Browser. I’m sorry, but since the first Beta, then the private Beta, I always opposed a new icon, and I made it clear that I didn’t like or want this webzine feature, as it’s useless to me and bloats the Browser down so much. Dolphin HD is supposed to be a high density Browser, so make it be one, and don’t downgrade it with useless features. I’m ultimately disappointed, as I feel my feedback is worthless, and despite not wanting webzine, you still bring it out in the final product, and I really feel that I’ve wasted my breathe giving feedback, as you’ve not listened to a word of it, and totally disregarded my feedback.

So this is why I’ve said this in the android market, and left a one star rating, saying the developer doesn’t listen to, or take on board any of my feedback. And if you remember, I stated that if webzine made t to the final release, that i’d just delete t, and use opera mobile instead. Well you’ve not listened or compromised, so I’m now deleting your Browser, and I’m switching to opera mobile. Thanks for etting me be a private Beta tester, but I’m disappointed that you didn’t listen, or give us a choice with this webzine being forced onto us.

    • Dolphin Browser says:

Thanks you for your feedback again, Simon.
As we said in the blog post: “We wanted to make it super easy for you to read web articles, access web content and get the information you want right on your mobile device. Just as simple as that.”, so we decide to integrate webzine with Dolphin HD.
As for the new logo, it has been voted by other users. We pick it for users’ willingness.
And if you really don’t like the new v6, you can contact our support team member: support@dolphin-browser.com. Maybe they can help you.

      • STAR says:

Its easy enough to use the browser and the web as it was intended. The webzine feature should be a n addon for those who want it. I liked the old icon fine, but the new icon is decent. No complaint from me on that one. The webzine feature really seems like a waste of time and man hours… but that’s my opinion, iknow some people appreciate it. Keep up the good work devs, sometimes things don’t make everyone happy, but im glad that our input is at least aknowledged. I think I would like the webzine feature if you could add more content to it. But I still would want it to be an addon. Also, you should add a feedback option in the browser settings or something, if you think you could handle all the great constructive critisism and bug reports that would come flowing in :p

      • Bart says:

        I’ve mailed with support@dolphin-browser.com, but there’s no response coming…?

    • Troll Hater says:

      Troll.

Heck if anything, the new icon is a welcome improvement to the program, nice, stylish, and voted on by users worldwide!

While I too may not use webzine, one can simply choose not to use it; empty the list and go on as normal with your shortcuts.

That is unless you figured you were going to play Simon says.

You are one out of over a million, most of what I heard was childish.

You would have come acorss better by simply saying:

I don’t like webzine, can it be made into an add on?

I’m not enthused about the icon.

But heck, the “I didn’t get what I want, I’m taking my ball and going home” mentality seems to pervade the society.

  160. Noah says:

Please move “DolphinMagazines” and “TunnyBrowser” folders to subfolder of “/sdcard/android/data/”.
    (or additional “mobi.mgeek.TunnyBrowser” folder.)

    • Dolphin Browser says:

      Thanks for your suggestion.
We will improve it in the next version.

      • Marc says:

        1. I agree with that suggestion, if possible for simplicity, in future releases, features and addons should whenever possible, go into a nested folder of your main applicatiopn folder. Keeps it tidy.

        2. Love the new program icon.

        3. While not a fan of webzine, I will at least evaluate it.
One note, IMHO, the add feature should open with the category tree closed. Allow the user to hit a category first to see the list, than all open.

  161. Linh says:

Is there any way to import the bookmarks from the beta? It doesn’t seem to work.
