Here I want to thinks all for your feedbacks via email, via market comments, via …, etc. Among your feedbacks, the majority of you had reported about the page loading issue in this major update. We have tried all to solve the “big issue” and build a new apk file for you to test.

Maybe you will remember the user survey I had mentioned in the previous posts. Currently we only have 900+ users to take part in this campaign. As the graphic showed, the majority people think that Dolphin’s performance is better.

So what’s your opinion, did you find the new 5.0.1 beta is quicker than 5.0 on page loading? If not, could you please describe your situation clearly? Please answer the following questions for us one by one. It will be highly appreciated.

  • Is it slow when first launching the app? or using for a while, it becomes slow?
  • Some of your websites are loading slow? or all the sites you visit are slow?
  • The page you want to load is blank or just load in a half way? how about the status of the progress bar on the top?
  • Have you tried kill the browser by task manager? Then open browser, it will be slower or quicker?
  • Have you tried uninstall and reinstall dolphin? and the page loading issue is being fixed? (pls backup your data first)
  • When you update to latest 5.0 version, did you use Dolphin Browser HD v4.6.1? If not, could you please tell us your version number?

Any thing you find strange in this new version, please let us know. We will try our best to solve your problems. Thanks, all.

    Hi,

I have problem with site loading incorrectly. The menu at the top of the page is not working, and is written “open”. Please compare with any other browser. The site is
    Http://www.luontokuva.org (Finnish nature photography association)

    • Tunny says:

Can you tell me your device model and firmware version?
Does your stock browser have this problem either?

  3. ken says:

Sorry Tunny, yes I can play flash on my tablet. I have always browsed the webs with the dolphin HD “settings” “page contents settings” “enable plug-ins” “on demand”. I did some reading about .PNG files and went back to the news site with the “enable plug-ins” “always on”. All videos will play as in the stock browser. :-) Before, the video link sprites just glowed orange when selected, now the .PNG image starts the media browser so I was just doing it wrong before. Thank you from an even happier customer.

I love the look of new Dolphine. The only problems are probably inherited from HC3.1 browser (I’m using Transformer with 3.1) – slow redraw on scrolling and some problems with keyboard and not working file sharing sites (like filesonic).

  5. Shaun says:

I love the browser. Each build is getting better. Only 1major issue other than the page loads.

Why won’t it install plug-ins, etc? It keeps responding with “No applications can perform this action”.

I’ve come straight from the last v4 to v5. Big changes and I’m taking a while to get use to them. It took a while to figure out and sort my bookmarks in the nested folders but love it. I also like to exit the browser clearing cookies, history and cache the previous version would take a long time 30 s or so. This v5 very quick. I’m also glad “save link” still brings up the “save as” dialogue box. +1 very satisified customer. I was reading some replies to the blog questions, you asked for some feed back about links for flash that won’t play this local news site I don’t know what they done but I have never been able to play their videos in you browser but the stock browser in froyo on my galaxy tab can, although badly as I don’t think it is optimized for mobile. http://resources.brisbanetimes.com.au/common/media-common-1.0/css/output/img/sprite-skin-europa.png

    • Tunny says:

      Thanks for your feedback.
You mean you can’t play flash on your phone?
Then what is your device model and firmware version? Froyo 2.2?

  7. Buddha says:

Unfortunately, still having the exact same problem with LONG page loading times and force closes. On my LG OPTIMUS S running Froyo, I am not seeing any difference between the 5.0 release and 5.0.1. I’m ever so hopeful that 5.0.2,when it comes out, will be the one that does the trick. Thanks Tunny…..keep at it please, because this is killing me.

Two days ago I’ve updated to 5.0.0 version. Now when I try to load websites like http://Www.repubblica.it or http://Www.corriere.it I need more or less 30 seconds (10 seconds either if I use the default browser or Skyfire) 5.0.1 has solved this problem? When android market let us download this new release?

Why does the text not autowrap on double taps? This is the first time I upgraded Dolphin (from 4.5 I believe) and I feel this is an intuitive feature lost. Always prefered Dolphin over the stock browser but having to manually size text (while the previous version had it automated) has left me disappointed.

    • Tunny says:

You mean it works in previous versions?
If so, can you tell me your device model and firmware version? Froyo 2.2?

  14. Chris says:

I’ve been here testing all the beta’s, I came from HD 4.6, all the beta’s kept getting better and better, the final 5.0 I thought was a huge improvement for page loading. I had to reply…beta 5.0.1 is even BETTER, I’ve been using it for a few hours now and it is amazing. What I found is that after I downloaded the apk file and HD opened, I then closed it and cleared out all items (I checked cache, history, etc.,.everything). Then I re-opened HD browser and I could not believe how much faster the pages were loading. I can only speak for me and my phone but all the pages I had bookmarked loaded quicker then 5.0. In fact I deciced to go to some websites I had not gone to on my phone Ex Petsmart.com and it loaded up so fast I was extremely impressed. The reason I am so impressed is because I normally load using desktop (using dolphin toogles) so I usually expect pages to be a little slower but 5.0.1 is better than 5.0 for me. Keep up the great work, I have no problems so nothing negative to report on page loading. I still wish the text would auto wrap when you pinch and zoom (dont want to use pinch/zoom icon on screen) I miss this feature from 4.6. I have an HTC so I am use to stock browser when you pinch and zoom the text will auto wrap. On 5.0 and 5.0.1 you can pinch and zoom and then double tap to wrap the text which is good but it’s just another step, wish the text would auto wrap by itself, this feature WAS on your HD 4.6 but then disappeared on all the beta’s and now on final so I am assuming you will not put it back in. Otherwise this is best beta 5.0.1, I hate to call it beta because it’s like a final, good job. I’m staying w/ Dolphin HD. I’m using HTC Droid Incredible 1 Froyo 2.2 stock (not rooted)

    • Tunny says:

Thanks for trying the new beta version.
And glad to know that your problem get solved.
As for the text re-flow issue, we will take a test for it.

  15. Greg says:

During previous 5.0 betas I was able to easily produce the “page loading” issue and posted that feedback here. I just spent a significant amount of time surfing the web, going to my normal sites (in which I’ve been able to produce the problem) and I had no issues at all. The 5.0.1 beta was very fast and no hangs or loading problems. Yes!!! Interestingly enough the only time I thought it was about to hang was coming here. It took quite a bit longer than normal to load, but eventually did. The changes that were made in 5.0.1 beta look really good and I’m sold on Dolphin HD. Thanks for all the hard work to resolve this issue. I would also like to add I’m extremely impressed by the responsiveness of the Dolphin HD team.

  16. Chris says:

This solved all slow and halted page loading issues that I was encountering on both my HTC Evo 4G (Android v2.2) and Acer Iconia A500 tablet (Android v3.01). Thanks!

  17. Tyler Wagner says:

The beta doesn’t fix either the page load problem, or the intermittent force close problem. Neither of which I had on the last Dolphin release from the Market (4.6.something).

Please, please send me a link to an .apk of the previous release. I need a working browser.

Running CyanogenMod 7.0.3 on Nook Color.

    • Tunny says:

Can you tell me what intermittent force close issue you’ve got?
Can you send us the crash log as soon as it force close again?

  18. Robert says:

I can’t seem to find a way to change the homepage setting on this version.

  19. Jeff says:

Pages start to load quickly but then stall before completion. The other issue is pages load blank.
This used to be a great, fast browser, now it is unstable and ineffective. Can you please restore it to the previous year versions?

    • Tunny says:

You mean this still happens in v5.0.1 beta?
If so, what is your device model and firmware version? Froyo2.2?

  20. Sheri says:

Partial page loading after clearing history. 5.0 beta version

    • Tunny says:

Partial page loading? You mean the browser cannot complete any page loading?
What is your device model and firmware version?
