After the improvement of Dolphin Browser HD, we bring out the upgrade version of Dolphin Browser – the original one made by Dolphin Team. We have been collected your feedbacks and logs this period of time. In accordance with these feedbacks, we sort out some problems and bugs and fix most of them.

What we have done in this new beta version:

  • Force close issue with fan menu
  • Force close issue with adding bookmarks
  • Force close issue when you clear location access
  • Blank page of the Windows

Hurry up and try it now and feel free to let us know how it works for you in the comments.

This is the most user friendly browser I found for my N1 with froyo !
Here are 2 points it might be great to implement in next version :
    – refit the page to screen when zoom in
    – integrate a built-in ad-block

Thanx for the good job ! Please keep on !

  2. dblanchard says:

Completely agree with Nathan Kurz, especially on the back button.

  3. Shinco Mini Split says:

Thank you, wonderful job! Exactly the stuff I had to know.

I love this version of Dolphin. The Hd version is good as well. But this one is the one for me. I am using a 2.2 Desire and the thing I love about this browser is the sheer speed of it, tab switching is very smooth. I also like that you can have your tabs visible at all times. The only problem I’ve encountered is that sometimes when I press a link it doesn’t respond very well; the select text feature is quite hard to use for me as well. I think it would be nice if you could close a tab from another tab( maybe a little x?) without first opening the window menu. Otherwise excellent work!

Great app better then the stock app browser. I have android 2.2 and tried firefox but it takes up to much room on my internal memory. I like the dolphin HD better, very simple. Easy to use. People I know you are use to old ways and its hard to change, just give it a try. Trust me you will love it. A must have on android.

Hey there tunny. Love the apparently, it is simply the best. I have problem though. I DL 3.0 version a while back. When I visited certain sites to stream movies, I was given the option to save the clips to my phone via browser. Since updating it to v4.0 I lost that ability. Is this a browser issue or is it from the site?

    • Tunny says:

This is the new beta version of Dolphin Browser, not the Dolphin Browser HD. And as for the issue you mentioned, could you provide us the link to help us with the bug reproduce?

  7. BadSummer says:

Been losing the tabs across the top.

  8. glueall says:

    Multi-touch zoom is quite glitchy.

  9. Tunny says:

    Thanks. :-)

I have 1 problem. Sometimes then I want to scroll the page right sometimes it wont scroll and it goes to toolbar menu

  11. Fred Wacksman says:

I’m not sure what I’m now running! I did the download, but it all looks the same. I wasn’t having a problem with the version I was using. I love Dolphin….

    • Tunny says:

You can check the Download page or the About us page to get more info about the version which you used. The interfaces are totally different.

  12. Nathan Kurz says:

The new upgrade is working great for me on an HTC Incredible. You’ve fixed almost everything that was irritating about the previous version, and added some nice features. Congratulations!

    Here’s some of my thoughts:

Swipe right for the bookmarks menu is great. Fast, accessible, smooth.

I didn’t realize I could switch between ‘bookmarks’ and ‘most visited’ until I accidentally hit that button once. Only just now while writing this did I realize I could click the text and get taken to be able to access ‘history’. It’s not currently clear that the icon and the text are separate buttons. I’ve never intentionally used the ‘star’ button next to the URL there. I guess I’d rather have the URL just in the top bar, accessible from the menu key, and add bookmarks from there.

Swipe left for the Toolbar feels like a waste. I’ve never used it intentionally. If I want to access those features, I go via the Menu button. Perhaps swipe left could be to access Windows, the way Swipe Down used to be? But good call on changing that by the way — it was hard to hit the links at the top as it was.

The options from the Menu button don’t seem ideal. I’d like “Settings” to be accessible from there, and don’t see the need for “Bookmarks” or “Toolbar” or “Exit”.

My biggest gripe with this browser is probably the handling of the Return key. Is it going to exit, close the window, or go back a page? I never know. It’s OK if it goes to the Home screen if I just came from there, although it could also be argued that it should always go to the previous page. Choose one and stick with it. But don’t pop up an exit dialog.

Long press on Return should give me History instead of an Exit dialog. I never want to see an exit dialog — it just doesn’t feel right for Android.

I’d like an easier ‘Cancel’ or ‘Stop’ option for when I click on the wrong link. I tend to use the Return key, but this often seems to force the page I was on to reload, or even to get stuck if I’m in a poor connectivity situation. Maybe try a transitory button ghosted on the screen? But maybe this isn’t needed if the Return button was more consistent. I really like the new slim-profile loading bar, though. It’s great that it lets you start reading the top of the page while still telling you what’s happening.

I’d like it if there was a better shortcut to ‘Open in New Window’. Not sure what it would be, but it’s tricky for me to get the long-press on the screen to work without the browser thinking I want to do a text selection. It would be nice if this could at least be the top selection in the popup, so that it’s the pre-selected option when I use the joystick and click: if I wanted to just ‘Open’, I wouldn’t have clicked and held. Also would be nice if this URL could be more distinct from the choices in this menu.

I like the gestures, but I hate having the visual icon on the screen as a button. So I always have them turned off. Maybe there could be a “micro icon” option? Or an invisible one? The problem isn’t the size of the selection button, but rather the visual distraction of the giant hand. A tiny dot in the corner would be sufficient, if even that. Or maybe gesture entry mode could be combined with the Swipe Left toolbar, so when that’s open gestures can be entered?

Anyway, I don’t want to scare you with a long list. There’s some more small ones if you want them, but this is enough for now. It’s really coming along great. The interface continues to get slicker and less obtrusive. The volume keys to scroll alone will keep me using it!

    Thanks!

    • Tunny says:

Thanks for your valuable feedbacks, you mean Dolphin HD here right?
For add-on toolbar, maybe it is useless for you since you don’t use Add-on, I can understand. :-)
For return key, when you in a tab, you just open one link and don’t do the next operation, when you press return key, dolphin will bring out the exit dialog. But if you had visited many links via one tab, when you press the back key, dolphin will bring you to the previous page.
For the “stop” option, we have, it just beside the address bar when you loading a page.
For Gesture, if we find a better way to present this feature, we will refine it.
      Thanks in all.

  15. katana0 says:

    Hi,
i have a SE xperia 8 with donut, i get the bug when I scroll through a website by tip and drag on the display, the screen sometimes zoom in to the maximum. I then have to tip the screen and hold until the magnifier appears to zoom out again. This occurs very often.
Do you have an idea what the problem might be?

    Thanks in advance,
    katana0

    • Tunny says:

you can not show the original zoom button. if you use two fingers to scroll the page, maybe dolphin will zoom in or out.

      • katana0 says:

My phone or my android doesn’t support dualtouch, but it goes crazy when two fingers tipping the display. Maybe my finger is too fat so two tips are registered. Is there a way to adjust or disable this function?
