Add Bookmarks Folder Support

  • How to add a folder for bookmarks?

First, after you launching Dolphin Browser HD, pls tap Menu->Bookmarks (in dolphin menu)->Bookmarks (in side bar), then you will access Dolphin Bookmarks list page and you will see the folders. Second, pls tap Menu ->New folder->enter the name you want, done.

  • How to delete or edit a bookmarks folder?

It is very simple, just like to delete a single bookmarks in Dolphin: after you access the bookmarks list page (Folder page), long press the folder you want to delete or edit, Dolphin will show you a menu, choose the right one you want.

  • How to add a existing bookmark to another folder?

Method one: drag the bookmarks to the new folder.

Method two: edit the bookmarks and choose new folder.

UI Upgrade: Address Bar & Bookmarks Side Bar & Add-on Toolbar

  • Upgrade in Address bar: change Refresh button into Star-shaped button (Add as Bookmarks).

  • Change in Add-on tool bar: move Add-on button to the top, and add a Gear-shaped button for Dolphin Settings.

  • Change in Bookmarks side bar: simplify the interface of bookmarks side bar.

Tips: You can click the Bookmarks to enter bookmarks list page, there you can add bookmarks folder, edit bookmarks, etc.

Tips: You can click the Most visited to enter Most visited page.

Since it is not the final version of Dolphin Browser HD v4.0, we will continue to upgrade it: maybe in user interface, and performance, and lots more. If you’re interested in understanding more deeply how it works, hurry up and get it installed in your phone. What do you think? We’d love to hear your comments and feedback.

  1. Prem says:

I like dolphin HD, one feature I am missing is to open an entire bookmark folder, similar to ie. Where I have a favorite folder with links all the websites I want to see.

In ie you go to the favorite folder, right click and select open in tab group

Also some of the websites are not loading, eg. http://www.musicindiaonline.com, even after loading I am not able to see the entire page

    thanks

  2. Doug says:

Very nice. Way better than Android browser. The only thing I’d like to see is the ability to sort apps by name or date, etc.

    Great Browser!

  3. Colin says:

Try to get more feedback on the delay issue, as I said maybe it was Android and some other process running at the time. Has anyone reading this had any sort of delay when typing in the browser?

  5. Colin says:

I’m not sure whether it was the browsers fault or android, I can’t remember the forum but I will take note in future. It was like a delay when typing, you type a word, nothing happens, then after a pause the word pops up.
Something else I would like to mention, I prefer the refresh/ stop loading button to the star favourite button, and option to choose would be nice. Thanks.

    • Tunny says:

Thanks, we had just change the refresh/stop button back in our Dolphin HD v4.0 pre-release version, you can have a try. And the delay in reaction, we will follow it up.

  6. andrew maddux says:

Thanks. For an improvement suggestion: one great thing about Dolphin is tabs — long press a link to open in a new tab. I do this all the time on a computer and miss it on Dolphin.

  7. Colin says:

Sorry just one more comment, well two actually.
First, I love that you have added folders, I think it would be great to have the folders there when you swipe out the bookmarks.
Secondly, I have experienced a delay response when typing in the browser. It first happened a few days ago (v3) as I was typing in a forum, since then I have performed a factory reset and upgraded to v4 b2, and just now I had the same thing happen.

    • Tunny says:

Thanks for the report, we will take your advice into consideration. About your second issue, you mean dolphin’s action is too slow? We will check, could you pls provide the forum url?

  8. Colin says:

@ OMGWTF, maybe you could just use the menu button to bring up the address bar?
By the way thanks for this great browser and listening to what the user wants and likes

  9. Colin says:

    Hi,
One feature I think would be useful for a mobile browser (as in Chrome) option to set homepage to most visited or bookmarks page. This would be great for people who have limited internet tariffs. Thanks.

    • Tunny says:

Thanks for your feedback, currently we just add your favorite bookmarks to the side bar and you can enjoy it. We will continue to make a better home page. If you don’t like current dolphin homepage, you can set another one. :-)

  10. andrew maddux says:

I have an at&t captibate and can not install this. I get a message that only apps from the market may be added. What is the workaround?

Love the beta. Is there any way to make the address bar enhancement operate as in previous versions, where it is a stop button until the site finishes loading and then becomes the bookmark star? And/or maybe a function to revert that to the reload/refresh button?

    Thanks, and great update!

    • Tunny says:

Thanks for your appreciation and feedback, we will redesign the UI of Address bar if needed.

    • tomm says:

      I second this.

Also, please implement this with multiple tabs:

When a tab is closed, go to the tab that was to the right of it instead of back to the tab where (the now closed tab) was opened…

This is how desktop browsers work and makes it very easy to read multiple tabs in a row. The way it is now makes that difficult because it always goes back to the tabs origin page.

      • Tunny says:

It seems that we just do like this. Like a desktop browsers, when you close a tab, it just goes to a next tab to the right of the tab you closed.

        • tomm says:

Im sorry, I don’t understand. Are you saying dolphin hd currently works like this? Because for me it doesnt.

If Im on page A and have it set to “open tab in background” and open tabs B, C, D, and E all from page A, this is how it doesn’t function properly. I leave tab A open and switch to tab B. If I close tab B, it then switches back to A instead of C. Even if I go to tab E and close it, instead of going to D, it again goes all the way back to A.

          • Tunny says:

Sorry, I don’t understand you clearly in my last reply.
I will state the situation in 3 conditions:
            1. if the relationship of the tabs you open is that of including and included, when you close the anyone of B, C, D, it will back to A. (example you list here)
            2. if the relationship of the tabs you open is equal, after you close A, it will next to B; if you close C, it will be next to D.
            3. if you close the last tab you have opened, for example D, it will back to the previous tab C.

Hope you are clear about my explanation. :-)

        • tomm says:

It wont let me reply to your last comment so I’m commenting here… I agree with your second point, yes if I close tab A, then go to B and close it, it will go to C, etc.

But my problem is when A is left open and then you go to B and close it, it goes back to A instead of C.

I’m constantly running into this when I use google reader in tab A and open up 7 new feeds to read all in their own tabs (B through H). After reading, B, it snaps back to A. After reading C, it snaps back to A, etc.

Also run into this when I have a wikipedia article in tab A and open up several new tabs from that article.

Basically, how I wish the tab switching worked was like this…

If current tab is closed, switch to tab adjacent to right. If there is no tab to right, switch to tab adjacent to the left.

I wish ALL tab navigation worked this way regardless of any conditions.

I hope that clears things up. Thank you!

          • Tunny says:

Yes, I can understand. we will take it into consideration if needed.

          • tomm says:

Thank you, I appreciate it. This would boost productivity so much more. Dolphin Browser HD is the best browser that replicates the desktop experience, so it would only make sense for Dolphin Browser HD to work the same way.

          • Tunny says:

Thanks for your appreciation which means a lot to us, we will continue to make it better and better.

  18. John says:

I’ve been using the bookmark widget (2*3), but have not been able to figure out how it orders the sites. It’s this tied to the beta?

  19. Sergey says:

Неполный Русский перевод меню!!! Половина настроек непонятна !!!

  20. hum yai mark says:

on full screen mode I want hide only notification bar and keep address bar.

  21. Bill says:

Reodering bookmarks does not seem to work with beta 2

  22. Chopper Joe says:

My bad. Moved beta1 back to phone and no problem with upgrade.

  23. Chopper Joe says:

Love Dolphin but for some reason beta 2 won’t install over beta 1. (EVO)

  24. Leea Hinsz says:

I love my Dolphin!!! TYVM developer :)

I have to use “Sideload Wonder” to install non-market apps to my AT&T phone, but everytime I do this, I lose all my customization settings for Dolphin (i.e. gestures, etc.)…

I am slowly figuring out which files to copy and paste back to my SD card (i.e. “tunnybrowser_gestures”) but is there an easier way? or, if not, at least which files I need to copy/paste after each update?

    Thanks!
